In keeping with Enon's history of helping people in need and our 2010 theme "Doing the Word", Phase II of our response to the tragedy in Haiti took place on Saturday January 30, 2010. The "Heart for Haiti" event, a partnership between Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church, The Lott Carey Foreign Mission Convention and Radio One's Praise 103.9 was held at Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church, 2800 W. Cheltenham Avenue. Praise 103.9 hosted a live broadcast from the Family Life Center at Enon East, and the public was asked to bring bottled water, rice, powered milk, oatmeal, beans, soap, shampoo, lotion and feminine hygiene items to Enon between the hours of 10:00am and 4:00pm.
The congregation of Enon, the listeners of Praise 103.9 as well as the other Radio One outlets in Philadelphia rendered the following result. Over 240 volunteers received, sorted, packed and labeled 500 boxes of rice, powered milk, oatmeal, beans, soap, shampoo, lotion, feminine hygiene items and approximately 1,000 cases of bottled water.
